I'm a huge fan of Randy Gage. See what he has to say about working the business "part-time vs. sometimes."
Enjoy!

How Consistent are You?
By Randy Gage
March 17th, 2010
I can’t begin to tell you how many people struggle in this business because of consistency. They get fired up after an event and work like crazy for two weeks. Then the remote control starts to beckon to them…
They go missing for a couple months. Then they get to another event and get fired up again. They try to make up for the lost time with extra hours. Then they drop off again.
What they don’t realize is that each time they go MIA, it kills the momentum in their team. So you can’t really catch up those hours.
You will always get passed by others who may not have manic bursts of high activity, but work consistently ten to 15 hours a weeks. Here’s my law of this:
You can work part-time, but you can’t work sometimes.
So how you doing on this?

Career in Network Marketing Empowers Women to Empower Others!
NOTE: Sue Seward is a fellow team mate and gifted writer. I hope you'll enjoy her words of wisdom.
A Career In Network Marketing Empowers Women To Empower Others!
by Sue Seward
Network marketing is one of the only industries that actually give a person–any person– the chance to take back the American dream. And, there are no glass ceilings here for women! We can climb as high as we want to go and help as many people get there that want to come along with us, including our family.
Surveys conducted by the Direct Selling Association (DSA) revealed that approximately 85.2% of direct sellers are women. (For all you men out there, think of all the excellent opportunities you have to sponsor more women to grow your organizations.) Women are wired to network! And, women who network have the opportunity to empower others.
Maybe women are so talented at network marketing because they have this natural instinct to nurture and the ability to put another person’s needs before their own. Women are usually great listeners and have been known to have eyes in the back of their heads! Perhaps this starts when a woman has a baby and that baby depends totally on her for support, therefore mom must put her needs aside to tend to her child first.
Network marketing can be the perfect choice for women who tend to struggle with the decision to build a career outside the home vs. build a business from within the home that embraces the entire family. Placing our children in the care of others is not a pleasant thought, is it? I know it wasn’t for me, personally. This is one of the main reasons why I chose to build a career in network marketing and focus on treating it like any other career rather than treating it more like a hobby.
For me, working for someone else has never been appealing. It has always brought to my mind the picture of the prisoner with the ole ball and chain around his leg. This gave me the incentive to stay focused in MLM and never give up no matter what.
Instead of a prisoner, my career is that of matchmaker. I have absolutely loved developing skills as a “connector” in network marketing. It’s actually become a lot of fun. Connecting people becomes a profession in itself.
It’s time for people to stop seeing the network marketing industry as a get rich quick lottery deal and start using more women’s intuition to advance the industry. When more people wake up to this phenomenal concept, we will begin to see a heck of a lot more growth in our profession. And, women can be at the forefront just by learning to become better people “connectors.”
Walk into a networking event and watch how the women who realize the value of this concept conduct themselves. They are going to most likely be the ones walking away with some valuable contacts after they’ve had a little match making fun.
When walking into your next networking event, try a little experiment. See how many people you can connect together. Consider this a connect the dots experiment! The more people you connect, the more referrals you’re going to walk out with! Do not focus on yourself; instead, totally focus on others. Take a genuine interest in every person you are connecting with and listen to people because when you focus on what they are saying, they will give you clues. Keep your antenna up to pick up on those clues and when you sense any sort of negative vibes, that means back off, because you’re probably focusing too much on your own agenda and not on what’s important to whoever you’re talking to.
After you introduce yourself, zero in on the individual. Ask what he/she does, what’s important to her/him, and then hold your tongue! Ask her/him who would be a good referral for them to connect with, and then make sure you connect them with that referral by following through on what you say you are going to do.
A profession in network marketing allows women like me, who barely made it out of high school with no college degree, to build a solid career that pays as much or more than some people who have degrees. A network marketing career even pays someone when they’re not able to work. I experienced this firsthand when going through some serious health challenges. Through it all, my income was secure. With the exception of government assistance, where else can someone earn an income even if they are not able to work?
In network marketing, the income earned is determined by the effort each person decides to devote vs. taking a handout. It’s more of a hand up! Instead of giving people an apple to feed them for one day, we teach people to plant an apple orchard that will feed them for life. That’s what we do in network marketing every day when we empower others and teach them a new way to build their lives for the better.
This profession gives women incredible leadership and character growth, which I consider priceless as a woman who had no experience, income, credibility, contacts, little confidence, and no corporate background when starting out many years ago. And, if I lost everything today, my confidence in my career has been built up to the point I know I could build my business back up all over again.
Experience, self-development, and leadership character is something to work at every single day and not something that’s handed out for nothing. Self-development is an ongoing process, no matter how successful a person becomes. The possibilities are endless in network marketing for the woman who sees what this profession really has to offer beyond just the income.
Some people get into network marketing with the ole “I'll give it a try” attitude and never set their enterprise up like a real business entity right from the start. It's not being treated like a real business because there’s no real plan. Jim Rohn said, “When you fail, you failed to plan!”
When network marketing is treated more like a hobby, people may pick up on that attitude and say, “Oh, she’s just a stay at home mom with a little hobby on the side.” Prove them wrong by developing the skills to boost your enterprise to a full time income career that can give you the leverage and freedom to do the important things you cherish–like having more time to take care of your family.
One of the main advantages to building a career in network marketing is the ability to provide opportunities for your children. Thanks to MLM, I’ve been able to really focus on supporting my son in his desire to become an excellent tennis player and obtain a college scholarship. It has been a big factor in his success! The same thing can happen for all women and really anyone who chooses to build a solid, lasting career in network marketing. Think of the possibilities.
When we do all the right things now, we will see the positive results come back to us in the near future. Three, four or even five years are not much time to invest to achieve freedom that a career in network marketing can provide for women. What does it matter as long as we get there, right?
As a woman, wife and mom, it’s been a sheer joy to create a career in network marketing. I’m extremely proud to be living in a country where women have the freedom to choose a profession and build it around the family. I appreciate how this industry has empowered me personally as a woman. It’s an honor to give back to the greatest opportunity in the history of the world and empower everyone whose lives I touch along the way!
Thanks, Sue for empowering us!

Personal Note from Becca - HomeBizBoomer
As we have all lost family members we love and it is a difficult part of life we must face, it can also be comforting to know that all of the worldly troubles and pain are no more. My husband, Robert, and I were at the conference in Dallas when I got a call Saturday morning from one of my brothers that my mom had been admitted to Intensive Care and was not expected to live. It was during our first break at the conference and everyone was visiting and checking out all of the awesome new products and excitement was in the air. I found Shep and asked if I could talk with him outside the room. He made a funny comment like he always does, like..."Uh oh, Becca wants to see me in the hallway...I must be in trouble." Anyway, the second I got outside the meeting room, the tears began to fall and by now, Jan and Shep both, were giving me hugs and consoling me, then I ran into Jerriann (Kerr) and told her what was going on, and she was "lifting me up," too.
I tell you all of this because our Mia Bella Family is truly that. When the chips are down, you can count on our "Mia Bella Family!"
I’ve told a few of you about this, but it’s so beautiful, I would like to share it with all of you.
At the conclusion of Mom’s service at the cemetery, we had a dove release. How this works is, there is one white dove, called (Mom’s) Spirit Dove and it was contained in a heart shaped covered basket. Then there was a separate container that held 3 additional white doves representing the Father, Son and Holy Spirit...Holy Trinity.
The music began (link below), and at the beginning of the third verse, Dad and I opened the basket containing Mom’s Spirit Dove and it flew, then one of my brothers opened the second container and those three flew. As the song continued to play, we could see that the three doves had encircled the Spirit Dove and we watched until they were out of sight. Needless to say, there was not a dry eye anywhere as the symbolism was heartfelt by all.
What an amazing way to conclude the celebration of my mother’s life. I hope you all will enjoy this as much as I have.

Getting to Know Gen Ys - Born between 1980 and 1994
Thanks for dropping by HomeBizBoomer today!
Continuing on with our message about network marketing and who might be your next HOT prospects...
Generation Y - These young adults are HOT and more diverse than any former generation in the history of the United States. Gen Ys have burst onto the employment scene like no generation before. Brought up by nurturing, highly communicative parents, they are confident, creative, free-spirited and technologically keen.
The grass is definitely greener on our side of the fence. Ambitious, entrepreneurial, and eager to take responsibility for their financial future, Gen Ys are prime candidates to start their own businesses.
The where part is easy. They represent one out of four Americans and are easy to spot. Take a fresh look at the younger members of your friends and family (eighteen is the minimum age to sign an agreement). Head out to the mall on a Saturday and browse around in the specialty shops for music, electronics and fashion stores. Take a booth at a bridal expo.
Unless you are part of the Gen Y "club" the how part might take a little enterprise. You'll need to first capture their attention. They are media savvy and they'll check anything they want to know online in seconds, so be prepared.
If they are working, they could be discovering the restrictions that come with a regular job. If they are studying, they might be interested in a part-time offer. Fashion, skin care, cosmetics, hair products, jewelry, candles and accessories are all appealing product lines to Gen Y'ers.
If your company does not have an age-specific line of products, ask prospects for their advice about how to appeal to a younger age group, then listen to what they have to say. Gen Ys have grown up with countless stories about young people starting businesses in garages or basements and going on to make loads of money. They don't have the same self-doubt issues other generations have.
If you are successful in signing them with your opportunity, you will need to be on your toes. This impatient group will be interested in quick results, but they are optimistic and fearless when it comes to getting what they want. Give them lots of direction, feedback and recognition, and you will get your future residuals.

How Much Do You Know About Network Marketing?
"If I had my life to live over again, I would elect to be a trader of goods rather than a student of science"
-- Albert Einstein
I love that quote! Whether you are a party planner or a network or multi-level marketer, you are in the business of direct selling, or as Albert Einstein says, a "trader of goods." Direct selling describes the sale of goods and services direct to the consumer rather than from a fixed retail location.
How Much Do You Know About Network Marketing?
* The global direct selling market exceeds $110 billion in sales per year. The United States is the largest at over $32 billion, with Japan in second place at $25 billion. Direct selling is also strong in Canada, Australia, Europe and South America.
* Just about ever product or service imaginable is available through direct selling channels. Home products -- such as cookware, home decor, candles, foods, and pet care -- account for the largest share at 33.5 percent. Personal care products -- such as skin care, cosmetics, fragrances and jewelry -- come in second place at 28.2 percent. Services -- such as travel, financial and communications -- contribute to 15.5 percent. Wellness products come in at 15.4 percent and Leisure and Educational products contribute 7.4 percent.
* Four out of five direct sellers are women, and 10 percent of businesses are run as partnerships, primarily by married couples.
* From a business and tax perspective, direct sellers are classified as independent, self-employed operators or contractors, although they use a variety of titles such as representatives, distributors, associates, consultants, and so on. Their income comes from commissions, bonuses, and overrides on personal and group sales, typically on an escalating scale.
* Network Marketing (also known as multilevel marketing) is an extension of direct selling. While direct selling refers to how products are sold, network or multilevel marketing refers to how you are paid for building your organization.
* In addition to being paid on your sales, you earn income on the sales of people you recruit (or enroll, introduce, or sponsor) into the business. This includes both direct recruits (people you personally recruit) and indirect recruits (people recruited by the people you recruit). Both direct and indirect recruits are a part of YOUR downline organization.
If you are new to the network marketing profession, I hope you have found this information interesting also excited to be a part of a business model that is NOT in an economical downturn.
Now, more than ever, people are opting to work from home to add part-time or full-time income to their family's budget so if you are looking for some additional income to help pay the bills, save for a dream vacation, or because you want to start your own college or retirement fund, direct selling and network marketing might be the answer for you.
Thanks so much for stopping by and spending some time with the HomeBizBoomer today and always feel free to leave comments and/or suggestions.
Til tomorrow, be safe and stay warm...Baby, it's cold outside!!!

Helping Others Understand Network Marketing
If you "get" network marketing and you want to help others understand the advantages, today's message is for you!
If you've found a company you believe in, with products you believe in, then the only thing missing is...Do you believe in yourself. Be honest. There are always things we can improve upon and I believe most network marketers would agree that they'd like to kick it up a few notches in their recruiting efforts. Agree?
I've been reading a book by Mary Christensen on this very subject!
"A full-time network marketing business can generate enough income to support your family, pay off your mortgage, and build a plump retirement fund. It comes down to how much time you are prepared to work on your business and how willing you are to learn." Sounds easy enough!
"Recruiting is the life force of any network marketing, multi-level marketing, or party plan business. No matter how committed you are to promoting your products, there is a limit to how many people you can reach. Even if you are the greatest salesperson on the planet, there is a limit to the number of hours you can work. If you want to live a life most people only dream about, you have to learn to recruit." Ouch...some people are just too scared to learn how to recruit...It's that "rejection" thing, right? Read on...
"Recruiting lifts the ceiling off your income. The way to reach the highest income levels is to find and train others to sell your product or services--and to teach them to do the same...."
"There are many reasons why network marketing is more popular than ever. As the pace of life speeds up, we all have less time to shop. Network marketing takes the hassle out of shopping because there are no crowded malls, jam-packed parking lots, or long lines at the checkout. Customers can choose how they shop and their products will be delivered to their door, and repeat orders can be shipped automatically...."
Network marketing is an incredible opportunity for anyone looking to start his or her own business. Your income is determined by how skilled you are at finding the right people and giving them the support they need to build their organizations. Your recruits immediately have the same income opportunities you have. It truly is an equal opportunity business!
If you are serious about building a network marketing organization and reaping the high rewards earned by the stars of the industry, recruiting must be your number-one priority.
Any businessperson knows that bricks and mortar do not make a business. People make a business and network marketing is really a fun business for that very reason. People really DO make the business!
If I can do it, so can you, because I know how few skills and little confidence I had when I started out back in the 90's! We've come a long way, Baby! If you are willing to work and willing to learn, you too can have the money---and your life!
As Ms. Christensen stated, "Sell products and you will earn money for now. Recruit and you will earn money forever."
